Societal interaction (yvv-toiminta) means IMC’s engagement with different stakeholders for the benefit of society and for the advancement of scientific knowledge outside the university.

29.2.2024: Sami had a lecture about the subject of his PhD thesis (Reversible photochromism of synthetic hackmanites in radiation detection and quantification) to the members of the Chemist Club of Turku (Turun Kemistikerho) in their spring meeting.

8.2.2024: DemoDay for first-year high school students was organized, where approx. 1,300 high school students from Turku and Parainen got to visit the universities in the Turku area. During the day, IMC held demos and presentations for a total of eight groups.

31.1.2024: Sami participated in the semifinal of the annual national Skills competition (Taitaja-kisat) as a judge for the laboratory competitors in Turku.

14.10.2023: “Kemiat kohtaa” event for Finnish Chemistry students organized this time at University of Turku. Mika gave a lecture about “Hackmanite: nature-inspired sustainability for intelligent materials”.

August–October 2023: Three students from Turku Vocational Institute carried out their on-the-job learning period at IMC.

2.3.2023: DemoDay for first-year high school students was organized, where approx. 1,200 high school students from Turku and Parainen got to visit the universities in the Turku area. During the day, Mika held demos for two student groups.
