🇬🇧 This week, we have had the pleasure of ho 🇬🇧 This week, we have had the pleasure of hosting Professor Dariusz Hreniak from the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research of Polish Academy of Sciences in Wroclaw. During the week, we have talked about, tested and employed different methods for the characterization of persistent luminescent, lasing and upconverting ceramics. With the plans that we have made, we hope to make new breakthroughs, especially in the quantitative characterization of persistent luminescence. 🇫🇮 Tällä viikolla meillä on ollut ilo isännöidä professori Dariusz Hreniakin vierailua. Hän tulee Wroclawista Puolan tiedeakatemiaan kuuluvasta Matalan lämpötilan ja rakenteen tutkimusinstituutista. Kuluneen viikon aikana olemme keskustelleet ja kokeilleet erilaisia karakterisointimenetelmiä kestoluminoiville ja upkonvertoiville materiaaleille sekä lasermateriaaleille. 🇫🇮 Tänään on Turun Sanomien verkko- ja pa 🇫🇮 Tänään on Turun Sanomien verkko- ja paperiversioissa julkaistu hieno koko sivun juttu IMC:n hackmaniitin syksyllä alkavasta matkasta Kansainväliselle Avaruusasemalle ISS:lle. Artikkeli on tilaajien luettavissa. Tämän hetken tietojen mukaan lento asemalle olisi lokakuun lopussa. Sen jälkeen hackmaniitti toimii säteilymittarina aseman ulkoseinällä sijaitsevalla Bartolomeo-materiaalitutkimusalustalla 6-12 kuukauden ajan. Innolla ja jännityksellä odotamme mitä tuleman pitää. 🇬🇧 The local newspaper Turun Sanomat published today on their web and paper versions a very nice whole page article about IMC’s hackmanite’s up-coming flight to the International Space Station, ISS. The story can be read with subscription. According to the present knowledge, the launch will be at the end of October. After that, hackmanite will function as a radiation dosimeter on the material research platform Bartolomeo outside the station for the next 6 to 12 months. 🇬🇧 On Monday, we visited prof. Maarit Karppi 🇬🇧 On Monday, we visited prof. Maarit Karppinen’s group at Aalto University for a meeting of our joint HackALDimaX project. The project is progressing well, and we’ve already found a new property that has not been observed before. At the end of our visit, Basit [@basit.ali_khan], Yogesh and Joona showed us the ALD lab and how ALD can be used to make very uniform coatings on top of any shape or material. Thanks for the very nice day at Aalto! 🇫🇮 Kävimme maanantaina vierailulla Aalto-yliopistossa prof. Maarit Karppisen ryhmässä HackALDimaX-projektin tiimoilta. Projekti etenee hyvin, ja olemme jo löytäneet yhden uuden ominaisuuden materiaalissamme. Vierailun lopuksi Basit [@basit.ali_khan], Yogesh ja Joona esittelivät meille ALD-laboratorion ja miten ALD:tä voidaan käyttää erittäin tasalaatuisten pinnoitteiden valmistuksessa oli pinnoitettava materiaali tai sen muoto millainen tahansa.
